An erasing shield can be helpful. It is a thin plate of metal with various holes and shapes cut into it that is used to confine erasing to a small area.

At some point, you are going to use your pencil down to a little nub that you can barely hold. A pencil extender is a metal or wood instrument that is attached to the pencil to balance it correctly in your hand so that you can use the pencil further.

Dusting Brush

Dusting Brush

You need to keep your work area tidy and that is where a dusting brush comes in. Dusting brushes, also called a drafting brush, are good to keep nearby while you are working to clean your work area; or to sweep your paper clean instead of blowing on it or using your hand. Large make-up brushes are also good for this.

A frisket is a fluid or adhesive paper used to cover areas of a surface on which color is not wanted.

Liquid Frisket

Liquid Frisket

Liquid frisket, or masking fluid, is a natural latex or synthetic compound similar to latex. They might be colored so you can see the areas that are masked. Liquid frisket is painted on the areas that you want to remain white and peeled away when coverage is no longer needed.

Frisket Film

Frisket Film

Frisket film is a transparent masking film that is used when a large area of protection is needed. It is usually a low-tack sheet of adhesive that you trace your needed coverage area onto, cut it out, and stick it to your paper to protect it. Depending on the paper that you use, or the quality of the frisket film, you might have to keep seepage in mind if you are using a liquid medium. In that case, liquid frisket around the edges will help.
